Jerry Petitt

Jerry Petitt, 77, of Smithville, MO passed away February 10, 2019.

He was born on January 16, 1942 to Willard Howard and Katherine Frances (Shepherd) Petitt in Smithville, MO where he grew up and in 1960, he graduated from Smithville High School. 
 On September 22, 1961 he was united in marriage to Carol Lou Arb. After their marriage they lived in Smithville and in 1973 they moved to Paradise where they made their home. Carol passed away on January 2, 2016.
Jerry worked for TWA as a mechanic where he retired after over 40 years of service.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Smithville. Carol and Jerry were members of the Boots and Bows Square Dance Club where they served as officers. Carol and Jerry were also instrumental in forming the Starlight Twirlers teaching many children to square dance. Jerry’s hobbies included gardening, camping, bowling, and being outdoors. Most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. 
Jerry was also preceded in death by his parents and sister Jean Shaw.
He is survived by two daughters, Jerri Lynn Johnston and husband Tom and Connie Helm and husband John; grandchildren, Chandalynn (Crystal) Kenestrick, Daniel (Emily) Johnston, Brandon Helm and Steffani (Travis) Johnston Mack; brother Jack Petitt and wife Freta; sister Sue Hollon and Judy Blevins; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, 15th with Visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville
Burial: Ridgely Cemetery, Ridgely, MO
