Jerry Lee Sanders

Jerry Lee Sanders, 76, of St. Joseph, MO passed away Friday, January 28, 2011.

He was born on December 15, 1934 to William Thomas and Nadine Gladys (White) Sanders in St. Joseph, MO where he grew up and graduated from Lafayette High School.

On September 13, 1958 he was united in marriage to Nina Lou Elder. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph where they made their home.

Jerry was an active member of the Hillcrest Bible Church where he was involved in the music. He was also a proud member of the Gower Goodtimers and enjoyed baseball games and building model airplanes and cars. Jerry and Nina loved playing their music at local nursing homes.

He worked for the Missouri State Highway Department where he retired after many years of service.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Wilfred T. Sanders.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nina; one son, Steven Sanders and wife, Carol, Maitland, MO; one granddaughter, Sabrina Sanders; three great-grandchildren, Kalope, Gloria, and Boo; one sister, Dorothy Stephens, Roseburg, OR; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 31st at Hillcrest Bible Church in St. Joseph, MO

Burial: Forest City Cemetery.

Visitation: 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.

Donations: Hillcrest Bible Church or Gower Goodtimers.
