Jeanette Armstrong
Rena Jeanette (Hope) Armstrong, passed away on April 27, 2025.
She was born on July 3, 1932, to James Herbert and Hazel Irene (Downing) Hope in Green City, MO. She grew up in Green City and graduated from Green City High School in 1950.
On July 20, 1952, she was united in marriage to James Ercel Armstrong in Green City. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City and in 1960, they moved to rural Smithville where they farmed and made their home. Jim passed away on June 6, 2012.
Jeanette was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Smithville. She was a 50 plus year member of the Platte-Clay Pathfinder Organization. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, painting, and knitting. Most of all, she loved being a mother and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Armstrong; her parents Herbert and Hazel Hope; her sisters Zelma Cox and Lu Darr; her brothers James Hope and Donald Hope; her grandson Matthew Armstrong; and her great-granddaughter Karalyn McAuley.
Jeanette is survived by her children Susan Summers and husband Mick, Stan Armstrong and wife Mary Ann, Bob Armstrong and wife Beth, Greg Armstrong and wife Brenda, Lisa Evans and husband Mike, and Lynda Armstrong; grandchildren, Sarah (David) Duckwitz, Sean Armstrong, Noah Armstrong, Haley (John) Collins, Jessica (John McAuley) Armstrong, Laura Leigh (Chandler) Ekholm, Andrew Armstrong, and Carly Evans; great-grandchildren, Alex and Emily Duckwitz and Kimber and Harper McAuley; sister Lyn Phariss; sisters-in-law Marie Buckallew and Martha Ward; brother-in-law Milton (Anita) Armstrong; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation: 9:00-10:00 a.m. with Funeral Services at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 2nd at the Smithville United Methodist Church in Smithville, MO.
Burial: Smith Cemetery, Smithville, MO
