Jean Stratton Porter

Jean Stratton Porter, 86, of Smithville, MO, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2010.

She was born on December 30, 1923 to Riley Wayne and June Lucussia (McClary) Porter in Smithville, MO, one of six children. Jean grew up and graduated from Smithville High School in 1942 and lived in Smithville all her life.

Jean worked at National Bellas Hess in North Kansas City, Beverly Health Care and later Spelman Memorial Hospital, both in Smithville. She was always willing to care for those in need.

She was a member of the Smithville United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers and sisters, infants Richard and Margaret Porter, Kenneth Porter, Helen Louise Doyle, and Hazel Marjorie Porter.

She is survived by two nieces, Phyllis Franco and Jean Steffen, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 4^th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville with visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Burial: Smithville Memorial Cemetery.
