Jean (Ellington) Barber

Jean (Ellington) Barber, 76, of Parkville, MO formerly of Smithville, MO passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015.

She was born on November 20, 1938 to Floyd Rupe and Mary Katherine ?Katie? Ellington in Smithville, MO.  Jean grew up near Paradise, MO and in 1957 graduated from Smithville High School.  She moved to Parkville in 1982.

Jean worked for General Motors at the Fairfax plant retiring in August of 1982.  Jean also was a waitress in the Riverside area and also worked for Argosy Casino in Riverside, MO.

She was a member of the United Auto Workers Local Union #31 and also the Seafarers Entertainment and Allied Traders Union in Riverside.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Katie Ellington, one brother James ?Jimmie? Ellington and two sisters Nancy Kay Ellington and Jo Ann McCormack.

She is survived by one daughter Mary Kay Gerard; twin brother Jerry Ellington and wife Twila; sister Shirley L. Ellington; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service:  10:00 am Wednesday March 18^th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville

Burial:  Smithville Memorial Cemetery

Visitation:  6-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
