Jane Jones

Jane Jones, 76, of Smithville, MO, passed away, Sunday, December 25, 2005.

She was born on December 12, 1929 to Abijah and Helen Ecton. Jane graduated from Smithville High School where she was a cheerleader and Homecoming Queen. She also attended William Woods College in Fulton, MO.

On November 24, 1948 she was united in marriage to Billy Wilson Jones. After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home.

Jane was a loving and dedicated wife and mother. She thoroughly enjoyed being the hostess of family events. Jane artistically decorated for the holidays, which she loved. Jane and Billy always opened their home for family and friends. Teeter Jane and Billy Wilson Jones made this their way of life for 57 years of marriage. Jane was especially known for her delicious home cooking. She always watched cooking shows and tried new recipes with much success. She had made several new dishes the week of her death. She loved decorating with a country flair the Heath house and their present home. She loved hunting for and acquisitioning antique furnishings, toys and quilts. Jane always sought to have their home filled with comfort and love. Jane spent long hours researching her and Billy Jones? family trees. She was considered the family genealogist. She was a member of the Smithville Historical Society, an interest she dearly loved. Jane attended most of the family reunions including the 56th family reunion this year. One of Jane?s favorite hobbies was reading. She enjoyed both fiction and nonfiction novels. Jane always kept abreast of the current times. Jane is remembered as quite a Chief?s fan. She always had a seat in the front and center. She made a point to have a table of snacks for the half-time show. Jane will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was able to make everyone feel at home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Greg Jones.

Jane is survived by her husband, Billy, of the home, children, Reggie Jones, Alan Jones, and Scott Jones, grandchildren, Helen Miller, Cassandra Jones, Saxton Jones, Taylor Jones, and Sarah Jones, two great-grandchildren, and sister, Joyce Halferty.

Memorial Service: 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
