James William Ikerd

James William Ikerd, Sr., 72, of Tecumseh, MO died Dec. 21, 2007 at the Hospice House in Mountain Home, AR.

He was born to William Fulton and Edna (Seab) Ikerd on Nov. 14, 1935 in Natchez, MS. He served in the Air Force for 9 years. After leaving the Air Force he moved to Kansas City, MO.

In 1964 he met Bonnie Billings, whom he married on Jan. 10, 1965. They moved to Smithville in 1968. He worked at Armco Steel 29 years. After the passing of his wife he began to attend the Church of Christ in Nashua, MO for a short time. On July 4, 2004 in Harrison, AR he and Judith Eleanor Seibert were married. He realized his lifelong dream of moving to South Missouri soon after.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie, parents, William and Edna, brothers, Harold Ikerd and Walter Ikerd; sister, Frances Fleetwood; an infant sister; and nephew Delbert Woods.

Mr. Ikerd is survived by his widow, Judith; daughter, Mary Shackelford of Smithville; son, James Ikerd Jr. of Kidder; three step-children, Terry Billings of Greenfield, Karen Smith of Kansas City and Timothy Holland and of Cole Camp; 9 grandchildren, Jonni of Greenfield, Travis of Trimble, Kelli of Kearney, Thomas of Kansas City, Jacob of Smithville, Kaitlyn , Zackary, Matthew & Allison of Kidder; 9 great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Dorris of Monroe, LA; nephews, Larry Dorris of Monroe, LA, Harold Ikerd of Utah, William Ikerd of Dallas, TX; and a niece, Cindy Welker of Alabama.

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26th at Mammoth Assembly of God, Gainesville, MO.

Graveside Service with Military Honors: 4:00 p.m. Monday, January 28th at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Smithville, MO.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks or to a local charity of the donor’s choice.
