James William “Dub” Horn
James William “Dub” Horn, 83, of Gower, MO passed away December 15, 2010 and his wife, Mary Lou Horn, 80, of Gower, MO, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010 at their home.
Dub was born on May 29, 1927 to Perry Edward and Vertie Mae (Stagner) Horn near Gower where he attended school and grew up. He then served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. After his honorable discharge he returned to Gower and farmed with his father for many years.
Mary Lou was born on February 28, 1930 to Harry Oliver and Anna May (Russell) McDowell near Frazier, MO, where she attended school and grew up.
On December 29, 1951 they were united in marriage. After their marriage they farmed near Gower where they made their home. They also were caretakers of several local cemeteries for many years. After retiring, Dub, worked at NAPA in Gower with his sons, Jim and John. Mary also worked at several Nursing Homes and Restaurants in the area.
Dub was preceded in death by his parents. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bud and Harry McDowell; and sisters, Dorothy Climer and Marilyn Rubel.
They are survived by children, Mary Ann Young and husband, Jim, Liberty, MO, Linda Lacey and husband, Larry, Oronogo, MO, Joan Adkins and husband, Donnie, Maysville, MO, Jim Horn and wife, Nancy Jo, Grayson, MO, John Horn and wife, Nancy, Gower, MO, and Kenny Horn, of the home; sixteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by brother, David McDowell, St. Joseph, MO; sisters-in-law, LeVeda McDowell, St. Joseph, MO and Virginia McDowell, Richmond, VA; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 20th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower
Burial Allen Cemetery, Gower.
Visitation: 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Donations: Allen Cemetery or Three Rivers Hospice.
