James W. McClanahan

James W. McClanahan, 88, of Gower, MO, passed away, Wednesday, June 10, 2009.

He was born on July 6, 1920 to William Frederick and Aldyth Nannie (Ward) McClanahan near Gower, Missouri where he grew up and attended school. He then served his country in the U.S. Air Force during WWII where he received six Bronze Stars.

On April 26, 1948 he was united in marriage to Elva Jean Calfee. After their marriage they lived in Overland Park, Kansas where they made their home. His wife, Jean, passed away January 17, 1998. In 2001 Jim returned to the Gower area.

Jim worked for Ben Cheek Plumbing for over 50 years.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Herman and Bill McClanahan, one sister, Virginia Anderson, and nephew, Stanley Anderson.

Jim is survived by his brother, Ray McClanahan and sister, Wardie Hines, both of Gower; nephew, Ken Anderson, nieces, Rosalee Thomas, Beverly Meade, and Phyllis Wozniak; several great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation: 6:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 11th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.

Inurnment with Military Honors: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13th at Allen Cemetery, Gower.
