James V. “Jim” Jackson
James “Jim” Vernon Jackson, 85, of Easton, MO passed away,
Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the Gower Convalescent Center.
He was born on July 4, 1930 to Rufus and Grace (Rapp) Jackson in
Easton, MO where he grew up. He graduated from Easton High School in
1948. He then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On August 19, 1950 he was united in marriage to Jerry
Easter. After their marriage they lived in Easton where they made their
home.
He owned and operated a fleet of milk trucks, serving many local
farmers in the area. Jim also farmed and raised livestock.
He was a long time member of the Gower Christian Church. Jim
enjoyed bowling, quail hunting and coaching his sons ball teams.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, infant granddaughter,
Courtney; brothers, Lester, George, Earl, Carl, Floyd, Roy, Edgar, Howard and
Bill; and sisters, Lily Thomas and Anna Mae Herpel.
He is survived by his wife, Jerry; two sons, Jay Jackson and wife
Linda and Short Jackson and wife Moni; grandchildren, Lyndsay (Jason) Crum,
Jeron (Zach) Traphagan, Jeremy Jackson, and Jessica Jackson;
great-grandchildren, Jackson, Lucas, and Jalyn Crum, and future great-grandson,
Coy Traphagan; sisters, Mary Nelson, Dorothy (Walt) Ostrander, Nadine Karrasch,
Betty (Wayne) Kerns, LaDonna Corey, and Evelyn Thomas; numerous nieces and
nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 7th
at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Gower Christian
Church AFC Building.
Burial: Blakely Cemetery, Easton, MO.
Donations may be made to the Gower Christian Church or Blakely
Cemetery.
