James Monroe Belt, Jr.
James Monroe Belt, Jr., 81, of Bogard, MO, passed away Friday, May 16, 2008.
He was born on November 27, 1926 to James Monroe and Bertie Mae (Baker) Belt in Hodge, MO where he grew up and attended school in Waverly, MO. Jim then served his country in the US Navy during WWII. After his honorable discharge, Jim returned to the Camden area.
On October 12, 1946 he was united in marriage to Virginia Lou Newsome. After their marriage they lived in Camden and in 1981 moved to Bogard where they made their home.
Jim was an orchard farmer all his life and was also a dispatcher for the Carroll County Sheriffs Department.
He was a member of the Bogard Baptist Church and the American Legion.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John W. Belt and Bert B. Belt and nine half-sisters and one half-brother.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia, of the home; three daughters, Cindy Cazzell and husband, Scotty, Orrick, MO, Pam Boyda and husband, Bob, Independence, MO, and Kim Turner and husband, Rick, Orrick, MO; two sons, Frank Belt and wife, Karen, Edgerton, MO and Jim Belt Kearney, MO; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 20th at the Bogard Baptist Church
Burial: South Point Cemetery, Orrick, MO
Visitation: 6:30-8:00 p.m. Monday at the church.
Donations may be made to the church.
