James Marion Snook

Marion Snook, 86, of Edgerton, MO passed away, Thursday, August 8, 2013.

 

Marion Snook was born on July 31, 1927 to Roy William and Zelma Lou (Hornback) Snook in Smithville, MO.  He grew up in Edgerton and graduated from Edgerton High School where he was a track star. 

 

Marion served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.  After his honorable discharge he returned to Edgerton.

 

On May 11, 1946 he was united in marriage to Bea Kissick in Leavenworth, KS.  After their marriage they lived near Edgerton where they farmed and made their home.

 

Marion was a member of the Edgerton United Methodist Church, the Daniel-Shafer American Legion Post #445 in Edgerton, a member of the Platte County Farm Bureau and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Raymond and Jewell Snook, sister Gladys Virginia Snook, and son Marvin “Thumper” Snook. 

 

Marion is survived by his wife, Bea; sons, James, Jr. “Hotshot” Snook and wife Barbara, Edgerton, and David Wayne Snook, St. Joseph: daughter-in-law, Billie Snook, FL; five grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Cox, James Snook III, Aaron Snook, Daniel Snook, and T.J. Snook eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Staley Snook and Earl Snook, Edgerton; three sisters, Martha Jane Williams, Dearborn, Marjorie Stubbs, Edgerton and Dorothy Kneib, St. Joseph; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 

Funeral Service:  2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Edgerton, MO.

Burial:  Ridgely Cemetery.

Visitation:  6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, August 16th at the funeral home.
