James “Jim” E. Ingle
James (Jim) E. Ingle, 82, of Gower, MO died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at St. Luke?s Northland Hospital in Kansas City, MO.
Jim was born on March 23, 1926, to Chester and Essie (Clubb) Ingle in Canton, NC. He served in the US Navy during WWII where he met and married Rosemary Fisher, his wife of 62 years. They briefly lived in North Carolina. In 1951 the couple moved to her family farm near Easton, MO and in 1970 they moved to Gower, MO where they made their home. After farming for several years he became involved in the construction business. He merged with Joe Gregory in 1968 to form Ingle-Gregory Construction Company.
Jim was actively involved in the development of the Gower Convalescent Center, Gower Medical Center, Senior Housing and expansion of residential neighborhoods. Jim was a long time member of the American Legion Post 393, past president and member of Gower Lions Club and member of the Board of Directors of the Gower Convalescent Center. Jim?s favorite pastime was fishing. He took special delight in Ingle family fishing trips to Canada with his wife Rosemary, his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed painting and stained glass. Two of his stained glass windows are displayed in the dining hall of the Gower Convalescent Center. Woodworking was also a great hobby that he shared with family and friends. During his later years flowers and gardening were his passion. His back yard was filled with a multitude of beautiful roses.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant twin daughters, Margaret Rose and Martha Marie, son, Michael W. Ingle, daughter-in-law, Nancy K. (Hawk) Ingle, grandson, Jeremy S. Ingle. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Wilma and Hilda.
Jim is survived by his wife, Rosemary of the home; children James D. (Rosalie) Ingle, Gower, MO; Jerry G. (Elaine) Ingle, St. Joseph, MO; Marianne (Dennis) Ratliff, Easton, MO; Larry J. Ingle, Easton, MO; Diana (Stephen) Hilliard, Weatherby Lake, MO; Patricia King and David King both of Kansas City, MO; daughter-in-law Mary Ingle, Spring Hill, KS; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gene and Carroll and sister Ethel all of North Carolina, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 25th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Easton, MO.
Burial with Military Honors: St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Easton, MO.
Rosary: 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 24th with visitation following from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the church.
