James I. Stanaland
James I. Stanaland, 81, of Gower, MO passed away, Monday, December 01, 2014.
He was born August 8, 1933 in Nacogdoches, TX to James Travis and Ruby (Fyke) Stanaland. The family moved to the Houston area in 1946. Jim served his country in the US Army and was honorably discharged.
On December 26, 1961 he was united in marriage to Helen Mann in St. Joseph, Mo. After their marriage they lived in Houston, Texas. In 1962 they moved to St. Joseph, MO and in 1963 they moved to the Gower area where they made their home. His wife, Helen, passed away, May 29, 2005.
Jim was an over the road truck driver in earlier years. Jim retired as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of Operating Engineers Local Union 101.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Mary Imogene Parker and Elaine Jenkins.
Jim is survived by his sister-in-law Lamoygne McDowell; brother-in-law Bill Mann and wife, Wanda, Gower; nephew, Gary Parker and wife Rose, Houston, TX; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial: Allen Cemetery, Gower.
Donations: Mt. Moriah Methodist Church or Allen Cemetery.

I am grateful for the life of Mr. Stanaland. Thanks to his service and to the service of others in our armed forces, my family and I have been able to lead our lives in freedom and peace.
