James Elmo “Jim” Orr
James Elmo “Jim” Orr, 92, of Agency, MO, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011.
He was born on August 17, 1918 to George Alexander and Allie Pearl (Martin) Orr in Plattsburg, MO where he grew up and in 1937 graduated from Plattsburg High School.
Jim served his country in the US Army during WWII. On September 22, 1942, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Jean Misenhelter. While in the Army, they lived in various military posts in the United States and Germany. After Jim’s retirement from the military, they moved to St. Joseph, MO where he worked as a salesman for JC Penny. In 1988, after his retirement from JC Penny, they moved to California to be with their son and grandsons. In 2009, they returned to the Gower area.
Jim loved to garden, work in the yard and be outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Orr; brothers, Claude Orr and Ivan Orr; and sisters, Burnett and Irene.
Jim is survived by his wife, Charlotte; daughter-in-law, Sherry Orr; two grandsons, Brandon Orr and wife, Lisa and Sean Orr and wife, Maria; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Graveside Service with Military Honors 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 10th at Leavenworth National Cemetery
