James Allen Mummert

James Allen Mummert, 89, of Gower, MO, passed away, June 6, 2009 at the Gower Convalescent Center.

He was born on August 7, 1919 to Amos James and Eunice Beatrice (Teeple) Mummert in Fortuna, Missouri where he graduated high school. He then served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.

On August 12, 1942 he was united in marriage to Corrine Parr. After their marriage they farmed in the Dearborn area. In 1978 they moved to Gower, where they made their home. His wife, Corrine, passed away, August 23, 2004.

Jim worked at Coca-Cola in St. Joseph for 38 years. He enjoyed woodworking, caning, and mowing for neighbors and friends. He also enjoyed reading western novels and watching WWF wrestling.

He was a member of the Christian faith.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert Mummert and Leonard Mummert; four sisters, Rose Severson, Vera Petrovic, Pauline Williams, Georgia Mummert; and grandson, Chuck Mummert.

He is survived by one son, Charles Lee Mummert and wife, Anita, Amity, MO; two grandchildren, Steve Mummert and wife, Natalie, and Deloma Hensley and husband, Kenny, all of Edgerton, MO: great-grandsons, Christopher, Tommy, Matthew, Jacob, and Jesse; sister, Elsie Mackey, Long Island, NY; other relatives and many friends.

Graveside Service with Military Honors: 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 9th at Allen Cemetery, Gower.

Visitation: 6:30-8:00 p.m. Monday at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
