Jack L. Brown
Jack L. Brown, 78, of Edgerton, MO, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011.
He was born on October 26, 1932, to Ovid Creel and Pauline Marie (Hawkins) Brown in Gower, MO where he grew up and attended school. Jack then served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.
On June 16, 1956, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Sue Witt at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Edgerton. After their marriage they lived in Edgerton where they made their home. His wife, Sue, passed away February 12, 2002.
He retired from American Can Company in Kansas City, MO after 26 years of service. After his retirement he worked for Kansas City Auto Auction.
Jack attended the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Billie, Harold, Alfred “Bud” and Bob Brown.
Jack is survived by two sons, Martin Dean Brown and wife, Carol, and Paul Lloyd Brown and wife, Tracy, all of Lathrop, MO; one daughter, Janet Sue Vogel and fiancé, Kevin Timberlake, Lawson, MO; eight grandchildren, Rachel Sue, Sara Jean, Crystal Marie and husband Kevin Ard, Michael James, Joshua Arthur, Mary Elizabeth and husband Kevin Witte, Allison Nicole and Travis Paul; two great-grandchildren, Hailey Rose and Levi Michael; two sisters, Emma Louise Keesler and Virginia Welch; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 26th at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Edgerton.
Burial with Military Honors: Ridgely Cemetery
Visitation: 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday September 25th at the church
Arrangements: Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Edgerton.
Donations may be made to Northcare Hospice or the church.
