Jack H. Chew

Jack Herndon Chew, 73, of Gower, MO passed away peacefully at home on November 17, 2018.

He was born on October 19, 1945 to James Lyton and Charlotte (Herndon) Chew in Tulsa, OK. Jack grew up in Lyons, Kansas and graduated from Lyons High School in 1964. He also attended Kansas State University.

Jack lived in Muscatine, IA, St. Joseph, MO and in 2001 he moved to Gower, MO where he made his home. 

 He was manager of First Federal Savings and Loan in Iowa and was later a self-employed entrepreneur. 

 Jack enjoyed boating, riding his motorcycle, camping in his motorhome, and collecting motorized toys and electronic gadgets. He enjoyed socializing and dining out and loved being around people. Jack was a very generous giving person who will always be remembered by the kids in Gower for passing out full size candy bars at Halloween.  

Jack was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Charlotte Chew.

He is survived by his son Jack Chew, Jr.; brothers and sisters James H. Chew, Carolyn E. Crone and husband Irvin and William E. Chew and wife Jackie; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

 Funeral Service: 6:00 p.m. Monday, November 19th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower with Visitation following until 8:30 p.m.

Graveside Service and Burial: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20th at Lyons Cemetery, Lyons, Kansas

    Jack was such a big part of my life for many years. He reached out to me long, long ago when Jack Jr was only two years old! Jack was very proud to be a father.
    I regret losing touch and not knowing of his passing. My belated condolences to Carolyn, Billy, Jim and Jack Jr.

    I have known Jack since he moved to Gower. He was such an outgoing person. I took him his meals several times on Monday’s. when he joined the meal delivery program. I hope his very devoted and friendly pet has a good home with family. Jack will be missed by all that knew him. .
