Jack D. Woods
Jack Dale Woods, 63 of the Kansas City area passed away, Monday, October 8, 2012.
He was born October 23, 1948 to Dale H. and Maxine L. (Volk) Woods in Coffeyville, Kansas. He attended school in Coffeyville and graduated in 1966 from Field Kindley High. He then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era, with his duty sending him to Korea for 13 months.
On June 24, 1960 he was united in marriage to Judy Kay Lewis. After their marriage they lived throughout the Midwest.
Jack began a career with the Missouri Pacific Railroad in Coffeyville and continued with the railroad into their merge with Union Pacific. He worked many years with Union Pacific and Canadian Pacific. Jack retired with disability from Amtrak Passenger Service in 2001 with 29 years of railway service as a locomotive engineer.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jack is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judy K. (Lewis) Woods, of the home; sons, Mark R. Woods and wife Liz, Smithville, MO and Casey L. Woods and wife Monika, Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Cody Woods and Autumn Woods, Smithville, MO, Grant, Graham and Grace Woods, Jacksonville, FL; sister, Joyce Southwood and husband Bob, Temple, TX; other relatives and many friends.
Graveside Service: 12:30 p.m. Thursday, October 11th at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS.
Arrangements, Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.
