J. Dan Goodson

J. Dan Goodson, 59 of Smithville, MO formerly of St. Joseph, MO passed away, Friday, May 30, 2014 at his home.

                                          

He was born on September 2, 1954 to Lois (Boydston) and Calvin Goodson. 

 

On September 11, 1982 he was united in marriage to Andrea Miller of Smithville.  They resided in St. Joseph, MO for 23 years before returning to Smithville in 2006.

 

Before his retirement Dan worked as a commercial truck driver.  He loved his work and the friends he made along the way.  He was proud to work for Johnson Controls and Jack Cooper Transports.  Dan was a member of Teamsters Local Union 41.

 

Dan enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed being in the company of friends and family.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin and  sister, Donna.

 

Dan is survived by his family, Andrea; daughters, Whitney Goodson and Taylor Goodson and son-in-law, Sam Beard; the joys of his life, his grandchildren, Reid and Ryce Mayorga and Madyson and Allison Beard.  He is also survived by his mother, Lois Goodson; step-mother, Jean Goodson; sisters, Debbie Richardson and Dede Jones; brothers, David Goodson and Dwayne Goodson; many relatives and friends.

 

Funeral Service:  6:30 p.m. Monday, June 2nd at First Christian Church in Smithville with visitation following until 8:30 p.m.

 

Donations may be made to the church.
