Iris Everett

IRIS EVERETT

Iris Everett, 88, of Gower, Mo, passed away, Thursday, August 11, 2005 at the Gower Convalescent Center.

She was born on January 26, 1917 in Starfield, Mo. After her parents, Marshall and Nellie (Wilson) Vaughn, passed away she was raised by her grandmother, Fannie Wilson and her uncles and aunts. Iris grew up Starfield and in 1935 graduated from Gower High School.

On August 31, 1935 she was united in marriage to R.D. Everett. After their marriage they farmed near Starfield until 1972 when they moved to Gower. R.D. passed away, April 10, 1987.

Iris was an Avon Sales Representative for over 25 years in the Gower area.

She was a member of the Bethany Christian Church in rural Stewartsville, Mo., she attended the Gower Goodtimers and also served on the board. She was a Charter Member of the Mt. Zion Ladies Aid, a member of the Campbell-Oakdale Extension Club, the Gower 39ers, and the OATS Council. Iris was Mother of the Year for the State of Missouri in 1969.

Iris was also preceded in death by an infant daughter.

She is survived by one son, Bob Everett and wife, Jane, Stewartsville, Mo., two daughters, Charlotte Mead and husband, Bernard, Plattsburg, Mo., and Sharon Elifrits and husband, Laverne, Maryville, Mo., eight grandchildren, Gary Everett, Nancy Roth and husband, Mike, Dale Elifrits and wife, Lisa, Susan Merrigan and husband, Steve, David Elifrits, Darin Elifrits and wife, Tina, Janis Curran and husband, David, Roger Mead and wife, Beth, twenty-three great-grandchildren, Ryan Everett, Emily Everett Brown, Kilah Everett, Garrett Everett, Jordan Roth, Jared Roth, Lauren Mead Johnson, Leigh Mead, Andrew Mead, Kaysie Curran, Spencer Curran, Heath Elifrits, Jacqualine Elifrits, Shelby Elifrits, Brandon Elifrits, Chelsey Merrigan, Ashley Merrigan, Tyler Merrigan, Bridget Merrigan, Clayton Merrigan, Shanna Merrigan Campbell, Dana Merrigan, and Nicholas Elifrits, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 15th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
Burial: Mt. Zion Cemetery
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Donations may be made to the Bethany Christian Church or Kendallwood Hospice.
