Howard Lee Brooks
Howard Lee Brooks, 69, of Smithville, MO passed away November 13, 2018.
He was born on May 12, 1949 to William W. and Willie Mae (Howard) Brooks in Kansas City, MO. Howard Lee grew up in rural Smithville and graduated from Kearney High School in 1967. He served his country in the United States Army Reserve during the Vietnam War.
Howard Lee spent his entire life farming with his father Bill and brother Billie in rural Smithville on the family farm. He enjoyed helping his neighbors and was an amazing dad, papa, brother and friend.
He was a member of the Oddfellows in Kearney.
Howard Lee was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his life partner of 20 years Cheryl Sassone; son Chip Brooks and wife Jill; daughter Catherine Robinson and husband Clifford; grandchildren Cash and Briar Brooks and Zane Robinson; brothers William W. Brooks, II and Jim Edd Brooks and wife Kathie; Cheryl’s children Richard Sassone and Catherine Uhrin and husband John; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, November 16th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville
Funeral Service: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 17th at the funeral home
Burial: Paradise Cemetery, Smithville
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Paradise Cemetery.

Oh Howard, you were my husbands best friend and you two could tell each other anything and knew it would would stay between the two of you! You were like a brother to me as well… So glad I got to tell you we loved you a few days before you passed ! Until we see each other again!
