Homer E. “Buggs” Edwards, Jr.

Homer E. “Buggs” Edwards, Jr., 84, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Smithville, MO, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2009 at his home.

He was born on August 19, 1924 to Homer Lee and Mary Elizabeth (Maurey) Edwards in Kansas City, MO where he grew up and attended school. He then served his country in the US Army as a parachutist in the 513th Airborne Division during

WWII.

On December 7, 1946 he was united in marriage to Mary Bethene Stubbs. After their marriage they lived in Smithville and later moved to Gladstone where they made their home. His wife, Mary passed away on September 23, 2002.

Buggs worked for Bevington & Basil Wholesalers for 27 years as a driver/salesman.

He then worked as a driver for McCartey Trucklines until his retirement.

He was a member of the Teamsters Local Union #41 in Kansas City.

Buggs was also preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Shad Edwards; and one brother Bill Edwards.

He is survived by one daughter, Sharon Morvan and husband, Roy, Gladstone, MO; son, Randy Edwards and wife, Carol and their children, Addison and Austin, of the home, and son, Greg Edwards and wife, Lori, Kansas City; eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bob Edwards and wife, Phyllis, Smithville, MO and Richard Edwards and wife, Betty, Kansas City, MO; one sister, Mary Jeanne Christensen, Kansas City, MO; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 7th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.

Burial with Military Honors at I.O.O.F Cemetery, Smithville

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, July 6th at the funeral home.

Donations: American Cancer Society or Kansas City Hospice
