Hilda L. Nash

Hilda L. Nash, 95, of Smithville, MO passed away, Tuesday, February 7, 2017.

She was born on March 27, 1921 to Ralph S. and Maudeline (McMillian) Masoner in Edgerton, MO.  Hilda grew up in Edgerton and graduated from Edgerton High School in 1940. 

In 1941 she was united in marriage to Everett E. “Gene” Nash.  After their marriage they lived in Edgerton and in 1965 they moved to Smithville where they made their home.  Her husband, Everett, passed away in 1986.

Hilda worked at Wells Grocery Store in Edgerton and owned and operated the Dairi-X in Smithville.  She later worked at Paradise Point Golf Course.

She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  Hilda was Past Worthy Matron of the Edgerton Order Easter Star.  She was the oldest and founding member of the Edgerton Alumni Association.  Hilda enjoyed shopping, travel, reading, sewing, cooking, and was always the life of the party.

Hilda was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Christine Stubbs, Norma Logan,  and Darlene Blankenship; and her brother R.C. Masoner.

She is survived by her children, Geraldine Ross, Terry Nash and wife Jessica, and Sharon Nash Riddle and husband Gary; five grandchildren, Jeff Nash, Amber Brandon and husband Dave, Lori Nash, Charles Nash and wife Kaitlyn, and Christopher Baxter and wife Deborah; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, R. L. Masoner;  several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services:  2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11th at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Edgerton, MO with visitation from 12:30-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Burial:  Ridgely Cemetery.

Donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
