Helen Smith
Helen Louise Smith, 84, of Altamont, Mo. formerly of Smithville, Mo, died Tuesday Morning, December 20, 2022 at the Daviess County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gallatin, Mo.
She was born May 7, 1938, in Agency, Mo, daughter of William and Fannie Groshong Wright. On October 9, 1961, in Dearborn, Mo. she married Robert Earl Smith, Sr. who survives of the home.
Helen Owned and Operated Helen’s Upholstery in Smithville for 22 years and at North Kansas City Hospital as a surgery tech until her retirement May 12, 2000 after 17 years. She also worked for a short time at Hilton Hotel and at Unity Church of Kansas City North for over 30 years. She loved sewing, fishing, camping, traveling and especially enjoying her time with family, grandkids and great grandkids.
Survivors include her husband Robert Smith of the home; two sons, Robert (Skip) Smith, Sedalia, Mo; Joe Smith, Altamont, Mo; four grandchildren, Kayla Mowre, Amanda (Mandy) West, Christopher Smith, Kelly Jo Smith and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, December 23, 2022 at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville, Missouri with the Rev. Myra McFadden officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00 at the funeral home
Burial will be in the Ridgely Cemetery, Edgerton, Mo.
Pallbearers will be Robert (Skip) Smith, Joe Smith, Christopher Smith, Brayden Duncan, Chris Mowre and Shane West.
