Helen (Hise) Medsker
Helen Medsker, 94, Agency, MO and St. Joseph, MO, passed away, Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the Gower Convalescent Center.
She was born on April 14, 1914 to John Alexander and Annie (Manion) Hise in rural Gentry, Missouri.
Helen was united in marriage to Gordon Medsker on February 3, 1940 in St. Joseph, Missouri. The Medskers were involved in farming near Agency. Their farm won a number of awards including the Outstanding Award for Balanced Farming. Her husband, Gordon passed away on September 19, 1992.
The Medskers had no children of their own, but helped raise their niece and nephew, Bob and Helen Medsker, after the passing of their parents.
Helen has been an active member of the Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Joseph for many years.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one nephew, Darrell D. Maize, and her sisters, Floris Williamson, Maxine Poff, and Arlie Martin.
Helen is survived by a host of family and friends, including two nephews, Alec Poff and Bob Maize and her caregivers, Noni and Ernie Lorenson, Gower, MO.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24th at the Huffman Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Joseph, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Graveside Service: 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Skidmore, MO.
Donations may be made to the church or Children’s Mercy Hospital.
