Helen E. (Maget) Kimsey
Helen E. Kimsey, 92, of Smithville, MO, passed away, August 26, 2009 at Heartland Regional Medical Center from complications following hip surgery. Helen and her husband, Sid, have resided at the Gower Convalescent Center for the last year.
She was born on June 9, 1917 in Dearborn, rural Platte County, to William Jackson and Lettie Louella (Johnson) Maget. She attended school in Dearborn.
On January 3, 1936 she married Sidney J. Kimsey. They celebrated 73 years of marriage this year. Helen was a homemaker and enjoyed helping her husband on the farm. She was an excellent cook and talented artist. She was well known for her beautiful decorated cakes, oil paintings and ceramic work. She was a longtime member of Hoover Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Sid; two daughters, Bonnie Jean Chancellor and Shirley Ann (Denney) French; former son-in-law, J.W. Chancellor, all of Smithville; grandchildren, Candice Lynn (Jay) Sutton, Marcia Kay Franke, Dale Alan (Susan) French, Kerri Jean (Roy) Boyer, and Douglas Scott (Shana) French; great-grandchildren, Sterling and Hunter Sutton, Brady and Conner French, Blaze and Eli Franke and Kealee and Eden French; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial: Smithville Memorial Cemetery, Smithville.
The family suggests memorials to Hoover Christian Church or Three Rivers Hospice.
