Hazel C. McClelland
Hazel C. (Hixson) McClelland, 96, of Gower, passed away, Wednesday, April 25, 2007.
She was born on August 6, 1910 to Benjamin Franklin and Ola (Sawyer) Bridges near Hemple, Mo. She attended Mt. Zion and Campbell grade schools near the Starfield Community and later attended Gower High School.
On December 24, 1928 she married Eddie Lee Hixson. After their marriage they lived in Gower until 1939 when they moved to Kansas City. Eddie passed away in 1946. Hazel remained in Kansas City until 1975 when she moved to Edgerton, Mo. On August 12, 1976 she married Jewell V. McClelland and after their marriage they lived in Edgerton until 1977 when they moved to Gower where they made their home. Jewell passed away on August 3, 1997.
Hazel worked at Luzier’s Cosmetics in Kansas City for 29 years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Jolly Helper’s Club, both in Gower.
Hazel was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother Lee Bridges, sisters; Edith Livingston, Maxine Quinn Wagner, Grace Waller, step-son Dave McClelland and step-daughter Pam McClelland.
She is survived by step-daughter, Barbara Drake, Hutchinson, Kansas; four step-grandchildren, Stacy, Rebecca, Terry and Ryan; ten step-great-grandchildren, Jessica, Dallas, Brennen, Brielle, Brook, Brody, Taylor, Mackenzie, Tanner and Madison, sister, Straussie Burns, Vancouver, Washington, several nieces and nephews, including, Jack and Evelyn Livingston, Gower, MO, and Orville and Bonnie Livingston, Platte City, MO, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 27th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial: Mt. Zion Cemetery, Gower.
Donations: Mt. Zion Cemetery or the Gower Baptist Church.
