Harry N. Davis
Harry N. Davis, 69, of Smithville, MO, passed away, Tuesday, February 13, 2007.
He was born on January 19, 1938 to Leo W. and Ola P. (Towery) Davis in Shelby County, MO, where he grew up, and graduated from high school in Alton, MO. He then moved to Kansas City, MO. Harry served his country in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. After his honorable discharge he returned to Kansas City. He attended Kansas City Junior College and later graduated from UMKC. Harry then received his Masters Degree at the University of Kansas.
In August 1962 he was united in marriage to Betty Vyrostek. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City, and in 1967 moved to Smithville where they made their home.
Harry worked for Contractors Supply Company and Arthur Young Accounting Firm both in Kansas City. In 1972 he received his CPA certificate and began his own accounting firm. Harry also farmed with his brother, Ed, in Macon County, and owned his own farm in Daviess County.
He was a member of the Smithville United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer for many years. Harry was an avid gardener and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Edward Davis.
Harry is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; one son, Nathan and wife, Micki, Kearney, MO; two grandchildren, Brock and Baylee; brothers and sisters, Anna Mary Painter, Monroe City, MO, James Davis, Port Townsend, WA, Robert Davis, Pocatello, ID, Dorothy Sumpter, Tucson, AZ, and Charles Davis, Hollister, CA; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17th at the Smithville United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial with military honors: 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery, Gallatin, MO.
