Harry Logan Lewis
Harry Logan Lewis, 90, of rural Plattsburg, MO, passed away, Sat., Jan 1, 2011.
He was born on August 21, 1920 on the farm where he spent his entire life. He was the son of Logan and Elsie (Hibbard) Lewis. He attended the Lilly Grade School and Plattsburg High School where he in 1939. He stayed on the farm and helped with farm work.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in Sept. 1942 and spent four years as an aircraft mechanic to keep the B-24 Bombers flying. After his discharge he returned to the family farm and retired in 1980.
Harry liked old cars and tractors and enjoyed restoring them. One he enjoyed most was the old 1919 Fordson his Dad bought new.
He was a former member of the KC Heart of America Model A Ford Club, a longtime member of the Lathrop Antique Car, Tractor and Engine Club and a member of the Plattsburg Historical Society.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Clarence and Morton; two sisters, Emma Frances Tuck and Hazel Rogers; niece, Glenna Tuck; and nephew, Dr. Melvin Lewis.
He is survived by brother Lloyd, San Diego, California; nieces, Sarah Webb, Susan Quick and Phylis Griffen; and nephews Bill and Jack Shoemaker.
Funeral Services: 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 6th at the First Baptist Church of Plattsburg with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial with Military Honors, Green Lawn Cemetery, Plattsburg.
Arrangements: Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
