Jan was a wonderful, sweet lady. I remember meeting she and Ronnie for the first time when I rode with you all to state track while in high school. Beth, I was fortunate enough to spend time with your mother many years ago when you two were first married. I loved her laugh and it was contagious. You two had such a wonderful bond. My deepest sympathy to the entire family. I am Teresa Herrington-Dunham’s sister and was a friend to Laura when she lived here in Anderson. She graciously allowed me to borrow her wedding “floppy hat” when I married, as we both had the exact same cotton southern bell style gowns. I remember Jan as a funny and sweet Momma who always made visitors to her home welcome. My deepest sympathy to you all and especially Beth, Whom I knew as well. Lovely obituary.

At least part of the legacy that parents leave on this earth is through their children. I did not know Ms. VanWinkle personally, but I do know her daughter (Beth), who is a caring and compassionate person. The legacy lives on.
