Derk was my cousin. I spent lots of time with Derk, his sister, Barb and brother Mitch when we were children. I still remember him as a beautiful boy with large, beautiful eyes who was always full of fun. I was so saddened to learn of his death this morning when my cousin, Barb, called. May God hold him, his mother and his father in loving arms, and lift the grief of his friends and loved ones.

Derk was a good friend to me for many years. And although its been many years since i last saw him, it was a friendship that lasted the test of time. Derk was certainly a man of easy going sociable character and would befriend any soul that came his way. Derk was the kind of person i could bond with very quickly, and so became a friendship that i have always valued. Farewell my friend. May you rest in the peace of the Lord forever and ever.
