Grace Oneta Maxfield

Oneta Maxfield, 92, of Smithville, MO, passed away, Monday, May 21, 2007 at Oakridge of Plattsburg.

She was born on January 20, 1915 to Charles Estel and Rachel Elvira (Turner) Hendrix in Hoover, MO. Oneta grew up and attended school in Edgerton.

On December 17, 1932 she was united in marriage to George Glenn Maxfield. After their marriage they lived in Trimble and later moved to Smithville where they made their home. Her husband, George, passed away, January 1, 1969.

Oneta was a cook at various restaurants, and worked as a dietician for Spelman Memorial Hospital in Smithville for many years.

She was a member of the Smithville Baptist Church.

Oneta was also preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Elizabeth Hutchings and Katherine Woods.

She is survived by three sons, George Maxfield and wife, Patricia, Smithville, MO, Walter Glenn Maxfield and wife, Tanya, Tehachapi, CA, and Bob Maxfield, Smithville, MO; twelve grandchildren, Paula, Penny, Patti, Lori Beth, Suzanne, Mike, Jim, Glenda, Chris, Melanie, Shelly, and Bobbie; twenty-six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice Rowland, Savannah, MO and Shirley Kimsey, Platte City, MO; one brother, John C. Hendrix, Hawthorne, CA, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 26th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, with visitation from 9:30-11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Burial: Ridgely Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Smithville Baptist Church.
