Goldie Bernice (Tyler) Giddens
Goldie Bernice (Tyler) Giddens, 95, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Frazier, MO, passed away on September 13, 2007 at John Knox Village Care Center.
Goldie was born on April 27, 1912 to Henry Virgil and Lorena May (DeVore) Tyler in Buchanan County MO. Upon graduating from Gower High School she worked in St. Joseph, MO. In 1932 she married Clyde Argyle Giddens and they lived in the Frazier farming community. In 1941 they moved to Kansas City, MO where Goldie enjoyed being a homemaker.
Goldie was a member of the Frazier Baptist Church, and until the last few years attended Independence Ave. Baptist Church in Kansas City where she was active in the Faithful Workers’ Class. She was also a member of the Lykins’ Golden Age Club and Jolly Sixties.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Jerry Giddens; Clyde, her husband of 62 years, and a sister Irene Ruoff.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Bud Hatchette, Kansas City, MO, and daughter, Jane Giddens, Independence, MO; granddaughter and husband, Berna Sue and Mike Casper, Smithville; grandson and wife, Cliff and Donna Hatchette, Kansas City, MO; three great-granddaughters, Caitlin, Cassidy and Caycee Hatchette, all of Kansas City, MO; three step-great-granddaughters, Erika and husband, Rob Lam, Minneapolis, MN, Jessica and husband, Scott Stracener, Blue Springs, Mo, and Veronica Lay, Kansas City, MO; step-great-great-granddaughter, Hanna Stracener; two sisters, Winnie Barton, Gower, MO, and Doris Cole, St. Joseph, MO; brother, Eugene Tyler, Gower, MO; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 19th at the Frazier Baptist Church, Frazier, MO.
BURIAL: Frazier Cemetery
VISITATIONS: 6:00-8:00 P.M., Monday, September 17th at First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit and 6:00-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 18th at Frazier Baptist Church.
Donations: Frazier Cemetery or Frazier Baptist Church.
