In Remembrance Of

Gloria Williams

Gloria (Thompson) Williams of Gower, MO, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2024.

She was born on June 13, 1945, to Frank Thompson and Gladys (Settles) Thompson in Kenneth, KS. Gloria attended Plattsburg High School before entering the workforce. Her strong work ethic, positive attitude, charming personality and contagious smile made her a perfect fit for a career in the service industry. Over the years, her jobs allowed her to meet and serve people while developing long-lasting friendships. The position she loved the most, and ultimately retired from, was working in the Home department at JCPenney.

On August 9, 1982, Gloria was united in marriage to John Williams. After their marriage they lived in Gower where they made their home. Her greatest joys in life were her faith and her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- and great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and many other family titles. She had a sense of adventure, finding great pleasure in being out and about with her family. When not on the go, she could often be found in the kitchen baking or reading to her grandkids. Gloria also cherished the time she spent with friends. She was a person who never had an unkind word to say and would do anything to help a friend in need. She will always be remembered for faith being the cornerstone of her life and the meaningful impact she had on others. . Gloria was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Gower and more recently a member of the Family Worship Center in Smithville, MO.

Gloria is survived by her children, Cynthia (Scott) Grieger, Jimmie (Sara) Ransdell, Rickye Williams and Marla Garrett; sisters Patty Helm, Judy Racobs, Barbara (Leslie) Edwards, Francis (Larry) Neeley; eighteen grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and countless friends who loved her dearly.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John; brothers Robert Witherspoon and Frank Thompson; son, Mickey Williams; daughter, Tracy Daugherity; and grandson, Bryson Reynolds.

Visitation will be March 8, 2024, at 4:00PM with a Memorial Service at 5:00PM at the First Baptist Church of Gower, 102 S 2nd St, Gower, MO.

Inurnment will immediately follow at Allen Cemetery, Gower, MO.
