Glenn E. Edwards

Glenn E. Edwards, 86, of Lathrop, MO passed away September 30, 2018.

He was born on January 16, 1932 to Roy and Bertha (Jacobs) Edwards in Buckner, MO. Glenn grew up in Liberty where he attended school. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. 

On March 12, 1954 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Louise Cox. After their marriage they lived in Clay County, settling in Paradise, MO where they made their home. Charlotte passed away on January 17, 1996. Glenn then moved to Plattsburg and later to Lathrop. 

He worked for Simmons Mattress Company in Fairfax, Kansas for 42 years, retiring in 1995. Glenn was a member of the Baptist faith, the VFW Post #4043 in Liberty, the American Legion Post #95 in Liberty, the Lathrop Antique Club, and the Kearney Saddle Club. Glenn enjoyed reading, driving his golf cart, fishing and especially being with family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers Leroy Edwards, Tommy Edwards, Gene Edwards, and Elby Edwards; sisters Dorothy Drew and Iola Drew; great-grandson Jesse James Alexander. 

Glenn is survived by his daughters Glenda Covert, Dianna (Rick Ward) Bush and Tammy (Stan) Lanier; grandchildren Courtney (Sean) Alexander, Jamie Ward, Phillip Ward, Jesse Lanier, and Devon Covert; great-grandchildren Jacob Dixon, Jocelynne Dixon, Carson Robertson, Brittany Knapp; great-great-grandchildren Maverick, Karter, Lucas and Skilyr; brothers Ernie (Elaine) Edwards and Riley (Sandy) Edwards; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends. 

Memorial Service with Military Honors: 1:00 p.m. Friday October 5th with visitation 12:00-1:00 p.m. prior to the service at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville

    Sorry for your loss. Glenda, He was lucky to have had you and you are lucky to have had Glen in your life. Our Simmons retiree breakfast will not be the same. I am sure he had more stories to tell.
