Gladys L. (Brewer) Carter

Gladys L. Carter, 97, of Trimble, MO passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013.

 

She was born on August 9, 1915 to Luther Leroy and Nina Ethel (Miller) Brewer in Whitetop, VA where she grew up and attended school. 

 

She was united in marriage to Johnny Roy Dolinger, they lived in Whitetop, VA and Radford, VA.  Her husband Johnny passed away in 1945.  Gladys married Kenneth Carter in 1952.  They lived in the Kansas City area and in 1969 they made their home in Trimble, MO.  Kenneth preceded her in death in 1981.

 

Gladys was a member of the Trimble Baptist Church.  She enjoyed quilting, painting and playing the banjo.  She loved dancing, teaching anyone she could to flat foot.  Gladys was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. 

 

She was also preceded in death by her parents, son George Dolinger; sisters, Bernice, Lavonne, Irene, and Madgie and brother Cleve.

 

Gladys is survived by two daughters Freda Dyer and husband Carl, Trinity, Texas and Nettie Reed and husband Herb, Grain Valley, MO; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; brother Albert Scott Brewer and wife Donna; sisters, Lois O’Neal and Lorraine Blevins; numerous nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends. 

 

Funeral Services: 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 8th with visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.

Burial:  Reed Cemetery
