Gerald Ray Linder
Gerald Ray Linder, 72, of Plattsburg, MO, formerly of Smithville, MO and Ava, MO, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at his home.
He was born on August 30, 1938 to Charles Raymond and Ruby Florence (Elliott) Linder in Ava, MO where he grew up and in 1957 graduated from Ava High School. He later attended Maple Woods Community College where he received an associate degree in woodworking.
On June 14, 1959 he was united in marriage to Charlotte A. Swofford. After their marriage they lived in Smithville and in 1991 they moved to Plattsburg.
Gerald retired from Ford Motor Company after 31 years. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing and playing cards. He loved spending time with his family and drinking coffee at Lowman’s with friends.
He was a member of Little Platte Baptist Church.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Darrel Linder and two sisters, Jewel Linder and Sharon Lansdown.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Charlotte; children, Gary Linder, Greg Linder, Marty Linder and Julie Brinker and husband, Todd; grandchildren, Heather, Shannon, Ashley, Alexis, Tara, Steven and wife, Stacy, Clint, Craig, Carolyn, Tonya, and Tierney; sisters, Wilma Davis, Vera Davis, Anita Smith and Loretta Andrews and husband, John; sister-in-law, Virginia Linder; brother-in-law Jerry Landsdown; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Flower Reading at 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 17th with visitation following until 8:00 p.m. at Grace Community Church in Smithville.
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 18th at the church.
Burial: Smithville Memorial Cemetery
