Georgia M. (Kerr) Callaway
Georgia M. Callaway, 94, of Smithville, MO passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016.
She was born on March 26, 1921 to Arthur Robert and Carrie Mae (Bullock) Kerr in Smithville, where she grew up and attended school.
On February 2, 1939 she was united in marriage to Wesley Callaway. After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home. Her husband, Wesley, passed away, February 14, 1985.
Georgia worked for Carver’s Grocery Store in Smithville. She then owned and operated Callaway’s Dry Good’s Store in downtown Smithville until the late 1970’s. Georgia also volunteered at the Spelman/St. Luke’s North Hospital from 1985 to 2012.
Georgia was an active longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Smithville.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Marie Pope.
Georgia is survived by her daughters, Sonia Ackerman and Sharon French and husband Johnny; grandchildren, Trent Ackerman, Kyle (Lori) Ackerman, and Annie (Darrell) Ledford; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Jack, Blake, Wesley and Auston; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 20th at the First Baptist Church, Smithville with visitation from 10:00-11:30 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial: Smithville Memorial Cemetery
Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church or Crossroads Hospice.

I remember my aunt Georgia from way back. Her husband, Wesley, was my mother (Hazel), brother. I remember her as a very pleasant person, always smiling and laughing and fun to be around. She will be greatly missed. Will look forward to seeing her in heaven.
