George M. Blakely, 71, of Hemple, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at Living Community Center in St. Joseph, Mo.
George was born on May 11, 1934, in Dearborn, Mo. to Carl and Isabel (Rogers) Blakely. He graduated from Lathrop High School. George then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On June 18, 1955 he was united in marriage to Gloria ?Jean? Coffey. After their marriage they lived in Camden Point, Gower, and in 1984 moved to Hemple where they made their home.
George retired from General Motors in 1997 and enjoyed driving the bus for Helen Davis.
George attended Wyatt Park Baptist Church in St. Joseph.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria ?Jean? Blakely, three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Cindy, Darren and Michelle, Kurt and Tammy, grandchildren: Matthew and Ladonna, Angie, Brian, Denise and Rob, Jeff, Jarren, Clarissa, Callen, Cooper, and great-grandchildren Landen and Valerie, all of St. Joseph, his loyal friend, Mike Roady, St. Joseph, Mo., three brothers: Charles Blakely, Plattsburg, Mo., Francis Blakely, Kansas City, Ks.., and Jim Blakely, Camden Point, Mo., several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 2:00 pm Saturday, September 3rd at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower, MO.
Burial: Blakely Cemetery with Military Honors.
Visitation: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
