George J. Lakatos, Sr.
George J. Lakatos, Sr, 68, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away, Friday, April 30, 2010.
He was born on September 3, 1941 to George and Julia (Bursa) Lakatos in Cleveland, Ohio. George grew up in Cleveland and graduated from Holy Name High School. He then served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
George worked for various paper companies in Michigan, Ohio, Missouri and Texas, retiring from Unisource Paper Supply Company in 2009 .
He attended Wyatt Park Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion Post #359 both in St. Joseph. George enjoyed bowling and golfing.
George was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his son, George Lakatos, Jr. and wife, Jana, and their sons, Campbell and Jackson, Smithville; daughter, Frances Lakatos, Columbia, MO; brother, Tom Lakatos and wife, Marilyn, Maple Heights, Ohio; sisters, Carol Dawkins, North Port, Florida, and sister, Rose Costello and husband, Tom, Urbana, Illinois; aunt, Agnes Hayes, Cleveland, Ohio; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial Service: 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 8th at Grace Community Church, Smithville.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grace Community Church Building Fund.

george, my great friend, i really was sadden by your passing. we talked about golf in michigan after you retired. now i am left with great memories of you. you were truly the kindest man i ever met. i love you georgie see you in heaven.my deepest sympathies to your family. a friend like you only comes around once in a lfetime. you were my rock
