George Elliott “Eck” Foster
George Elliott “Eck” Foster, 95, of Edgerton, MO passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011.
He was born on March 25, 1916 to Eldon Wilson and Alma (Elliott) Foster in Edgerton, MO. He was named for his grandfathers Arch Elliott and George Foster, but usually answered to his nick-name “Eck”. He grew up and attended school in Edgerton. After graduating from Edgerton High School in 1934, he attended the University of Missouri at Columbia, MO where he pledged Beta Theta Pi and Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO.
On August 10, 1941 he was united in marriage to Annabel Lee “Ann” Bradshaw. After their marriage they lived in Edgerton where they made their home and reared two sons, Brad and Mark.
Eck was a farmer – first with his father and grandfather and later with his son, Brad. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and the Masonic Lodge, Adelphi #355 A.F. and A.M. where he served two terms as Worshipful Master.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 63 years, Ann.
Eck is survived by two sons, Elliott Bradshaw Foster and wife Nora, Edgerton, MO and Mark Stephen Foster and wife Mitzi, Kansas City, MO; three beloved granddaughters, Caroline Leigh Foster, Natalie Ashley Foster Rellihan and husband John, all of Kansas City, MO and Stephanie Ann Foster, New York City, NY; great-granddaughter, Brooke Ashley Rellihan, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29th with visitation from 11:00-1:00 prior to the service at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Edgerton.
Burial: Allen Cemetery, Gower, MO.
Donations may be made to the Allen Cemetery or the American Heart Association.
