Gene Doty
James Eugene “Gene” Doty, 86, of Plattsburg, MO passed away March 7, 2018.
He was born on September 2, 1931 to James Virgil and Blanche Marie (Bubbert) Doty in Nelson, Missouri. In 1949 he graduated from Bunceton High School. Gene served his country in the US Army.
On August 10, 1952 he was united in marriage to Gloria Adell Fancler. After their marriage they lived in Kearney, MO and in 1961 they moved to Plattsburg where they farmed and made their home. Gloria passed away on August 2, 2017.
Gene retired from TWA at the overhaul base in 1992. He was a member of the Lathrop Antique Club, Antique Caterpillar Club, International Harvesters, the NRA and the American Legion. Gene enjoyed going to auctions and loved spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Blanche Doty, his wife Gloria Doty, and son Robert Franklin Doty.
Gene is survived by his children Jerry Doty and wife Barbara, Cheryl Doty, Debra Bastarache and husband Brian, and Mike Doty and wife Lisa; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brothers Larry Doty and wife Ruby; sisters Helen Johnson and Betty Schlotzhauer; his beloved dog Rusty; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation: 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 11th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower
Graveside Service with Military Honors: 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 12th at Old Lamine Cemetery, Blackwater, MO.
