Gary D. Murphy
Gary Don Murphy, 80, of Smithville, MO passed away October 2, 2021.
He was born on October 6, 1940, to Guy Lester and Lora Dean (Taylor) Murphy in Smithville, MO where he grew up and in 1958, he graduated from Smithville High School.
On November 25, 1961, he was united in marriage to Connie Shepherd. After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home.
Gary was an over the road truck driver. He loved to travel, camping, and boating.
He was a member of the Nashua Baptist Church.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and sister Donna O’Connor.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Connie Murphy; sons Todd Murphy wife Jane and Rodney Murphy and wife Jamie; two grandchildren Randy Murphy and Rylee Murphy; two great-grandsons Easton and Zahir “Little”; sister Betty Staton; brothers Dwaine Murphy and Perry Murphy and wife Barbara; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation: 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. with Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday October 6th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville
In lieu of flowers, donations may be Northcare Hospice House or the First Christian Church.
