Fred Snider

Visitation will be held from 5:00-6:00 p.m. with Celebration of Life Services at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14th at the Smithville First Christian Church.

Fred Langdon Snider, 80, of Smithville, MO passed away December 16, 2023.

He was born on March 13, 1943, to Francis Roy and Edna Grace (Crank) Snider in Kansas City, MO. Fred grew up in Smithville, MO and in 1961 he graduated from Smithville High School. Fred attended William Jewell College where he studied political science.

On June 16, 1967, he was united in marriage to Myra Sue Hickman. After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home. Sue passed away on September 25, 2004.

Fred retired from Columbia Windows & Doors after over 25 years of service. Fred would attend his daughter’s classroom in Smithville, sharing stories, holiday traditions and doing crafts with her students. He loved collecting things and was known for his Santa collection. Fred enjoyed telling stories, movies, reading, playing cards and games. Most of all he loved attending family members activities and gatherings. 

He was a past member of the Smithville United Methodist Church and a current member of the Smithville First Christian Church.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife Sue Snider; his parents Frank and Edna Snider; and his brothers Edward Snider and Earl Gene Snider.

He is survived by his daughter Susan French; his grandsons Brady French and fiancé Jordan and Conner French; his sister Frances Kuhn and husband Steve; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
