Franklin D. Merryman
Franklin Dean Merryman, 58, of Kansas City, MO, passed away, Saturday, March 3, 2007 at his home.
He was born on May 11, 1948 to Frank Gardner and Mabel Bernice (Cadwell) Merryman in Kansas City, MO, where he grew up and graduated from Park Hill High School. Dean then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge he returned to Kansas City.
On September 26, 1970 he was united in marriage to Diana Hoy. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City where they made their home.
Dean was a Truck Driver for KAW Transport for 25 years and recently drove for ESI Contractors both in Kansas City.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Northern Heights in Kansas City and a member of Teamsters Local #541 and Local #41.
Dean was a racecar driver, and loved to hunt and fish with the “boys”, and enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Devin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his father-in-law, B.F. Hoy.
Dean is survived by his wife, Diana, of the home, two daughters, Deana Lynn Merryman, Kansas City, MO, and Dione Lee Wetzel and husband, Kevin, Kansas City, MO; one grandson, Devin; one brother, Steve Merryman and wife, Tina, Kansas City, MO; one sister, Kay Gilliland and husband, Jim, Platte City, MO; mother-in-law, Norma Hoy, Kansas City, MO; brothers and sisters-in-law, Debbie and Ricky Winfree, Kansas City, MO, and Steve and Vickie Hoy, Smithville, MO; thirteen nieces and nephews, Robyn, Ricky, Jr., Randy, Billie, Benny, Trina, Clint, Heather, Kim, Keith, Salena, Destiny, and Callie; several great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday March 7th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.
Burial with military honors: Hampton Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
Visitation: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to the Kansas City Hospice.
