Frances E. Kindred Durham
Frances
E. Kindred Durham “Fran” passed away peacefully September 9, 2015.
Fran
was born in Smithville, Missouri to Elizabeth Adams Kindred and Collins C.
Kindred September 25, 1923. She was a lifelong area resident. She graduated
from Smithville High School and attended William Jewell College in Liberty, MO.
She
was united in marriage to Silas L. Durham of Dearborn, Missouri on February 4,
1944. Fran and Si lived most of their
married life in Dearborn, Mo. Together
they operated the Dearborn Lumber Company for many years. Fran and Si were the
proud parents of two children, John Kindred Durham and Ann Durham Holmes.
Fran
served as Platte County Treasurer for 19 years, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
She was the consummate Democrat and participated in many political events. She
served as President of the State of Missouri Treasurer’s Association. She was a
member of the Eastern Star and an active member of the First Baptist Church in
Dearborn. Fran loved her family, her church, music and a challenging game of
bridge. Her family and friends will miss her laughter and the many ways she
always made us laugh.
Fran
was predeceased by her husband Silas Durham, daughter Ann Holmes, parents
Elizabeth and Collins C. Kindred and her brother Charles Adams Kindred.
She
is survived by her son and daughter-in-law John
and Susie Durham, of Oahu, Hawaii; 2 grandchildren, Tina and Chris and
several great grandchildren who live in Stover, MO area. She is also survived by her brother and
sister-in-law Collins F. and Lou Kindred, Smithville, MO; sister-in-law Wilma D.
Kindred, Prairie Village, KS and sister and brother-in-law Joan and George
Beatty of Cameron, MO and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral
Services: 2:00 p.m. Monday September 14th at First Baptist Church of
Dearborn with visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Burial: Camden Point Cemetery
In
lieu of flowers donations may be made to The First Baptist Church in memory of
Fran Durham.
