Florence L. Nelson

Florence Nelson, 90, of Kansas City, KS passed away, Friday, August 26, 2016.

She was born on December 18, 1925 to Otis William and Florence Minerva (Carnell) Laughlin in Pineville, MO.  She grew in Pittsburg, KS where she graduated high school.

On March 12, 1947 she was united in marriage to Harry M. “Mac” Nelson.  After their marriage they lived in Pittsburg, KS, and in 1953 they moved to Kansas City, KS where they made their home.  Her husband, Mac, preceded her in death on May 5, 2001.

Florence worked for the Kansas City Kansas Public Schools for 28 years and retired as a Food Service Manager.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, her son, Dan M. Nelson of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and her niece Carole Ann O’Hara.

Florence is survived by her daughter, Teresa Durrill and husband Marvin, Edgerton, MO; five grandchildren, Phillip Durrill, Jennifer Nelson, Danny Nelson, Cole Nelson, and Jessie Nelson; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service:  11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 31st at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Edgerton, MO with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial:  Ridgely Cemetery.
