Faye Ruth Harris
Faye Ruth Harris, 83, of Kearney, MO formerly of Smithville, MO, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2011 at her home in Kearney.
She was born on May 10, 1928 to Jesse Jacob and Bertha Elizabeth (Lee) Harris in rural Clay County where she grew up. In 1946 she graduated from Smithville High School.
On May 18, 1946 Faye was united in marriage to Wylie Franklin Harris. After their marriage they lived in Paradise, Smithville, and Trimble. Wylie passed away on June 16, 1990.
Faye was trained as a doctor’s assistant by Dr. Spelman and worked for Dr. David Chiles for 28 years. After her retirement she enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Smithville.
Faye was also preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Bertha Harris; son, Ellis Franklin Harris; sister, Beulah Brown; brother, Harold “Shorty” Harris and son-in-law, Jeff Booth.
She is survived by two sons, Jess Allen Harris and wife, Effie, Garnett, KS, and Randall Joe Harris and wife, Gwen, Park City, KS; one daughter, Patricia Ann Booth, Kearney, MO; grandchildren, Traci, Scott, Jeremy, Meredith, Moranda, Jacob, Katie, Erin, Skyla and Amanda; twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Barnhill, Gower, MO and Eva Scott, Smithville, MO; brother, Howard Harris and wife, Cathy, Edgerton, MO; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 17th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville
Burial: Grayson Cemetery, Grayson, MO
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 16th at the funeral home.
