EVELYN MAYER

Evelyn (Barton) Mayer, 91, of Gower, MO, passed away, Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at Carriage Square Health Care Center in St. Joseph.

She was born on January 21, 1915 to Tom and Jessie (Donaldson) Barton near Easton, MO. Evelyn grew up and attended school in the Easton and Frazier area.

On October 2, 1934 she was united in marriage to Arthur M. Mayer in St. Joseph, MO. After their marriage they lived in Jefferson City, and in 1940 they moved to Whittier, California. Her husband, Arthur, passed away in 1950. In 1989 she moved to Gower where she made her home.

Evelyn worked for Norris Industries in Los Angeles, California for over 23 years.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gower.

Evelyn was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Thomas, Floyd and Joe Barton, and one sister, Mary Holt.

She is survived by three brothers, Kenneth Barton, Easton, MO, Dwayne Barton, Gower, MO, and Fred Barton, Gladstone, MO, and four sisters, Geraldine Dobson, Downey, CA, Iona Roberts, Pico Rivera, CA, Gertrude Jackson, Stewartsville, MO, and Colleen Gott, San Diego, CA, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18h at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
Private Burial: Ashland Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
